Trustee (Healthcare Services)
Home-based (with travel to our office in London)
About us
We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives after their sight has been affected. Founded in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson to help the many veterans losing their sight during the First World War, we have over a century of experience providing the best care to our veterans.
Since then, we’ve provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans, helping them to regain their independence. By providing our members with the tools and skills they need to lead a fulfilling and active life, we ensure they remain valued members of society.
We’re one transformational team that believes every visually impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose.
Blind Veterans UK is seeking to strengthen its Board of Trustees with the appointment of a new Trustee with significant healthcare leadership experience.
The Benefits
This is an unremunerated role although travel expenses are reimbursed.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with senior NHS, healthcare management, or clinical governance experience, ideally complemented by a military background or strong understanding of the armed forces community to join our board.
In this highly rewarding role, your expertise will help us to continue our purpose of providing blind veterans with the very best care possible, supporting them to lead rich and fulfilling lives.
You will join a dedicated and friendly board of trustees who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, making this a fantastic opportunity to network whilst having a positive impact on the world.
The Role
As a Trustee, you will ensure that we continue to fulfil our charitable purpose of providing support to blind veterans across the UK by advising on the formation of the Charity’s strategy.
This role will play an important part in supporting the Board’s oversight of services that enable blind veterans to live independently and with dignity.
This appointment reflects Blind Veterans UK’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality support, wellbeing, and rehabilitation services to veterans with complex health and care needs.
The recruitment campaign is expected to close on 29 July.
